Baldur's Gate 3 Players Want One Last Party At The End Of The Game

Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are asking for one last chance to sit down at camp and have a chat with their party before the game ends.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Leaves Players Yearning for More Closure

Baldur’s Gate 3, the epic role-playing game, has left players with a sense of abruptness in its ending. After the climactic battle and victory, players find themselves at the docks, exchanging brief goodbyes with their companions before the game concludes. However, many fans are left unsatisfied, desiring a more fulfilling conclusion to their adventures in the Forgotten Realms.

Players express a strong desire for a final gathering with their allies, an opportunity to engage in heartfelt conversations, and bid a more meaningful farewell. They long for a celebratory party where they can spend one last night at camp, reflecting on the aftermath of their journey and discovering what each character plans to do now that the threat has been vanquished. This nighttime celebration also holds the promise of Astarion’s participation, given his aversion to sunlight after being freed from the tadpole’s influence.

A dedicated fan expressed their disappointment on the game’s subreddit, receiving over 2,000 upvotes at the time of writing. They lamented the absence of post-victory content, stating, “We shared so much time with each other; it felt so sad to simply let them go without a party and having a chance to talk to them about their plans moving forward. Furthermore, being a bard, I implore the game to grant me the opportunity to take the stage and perform.

Various suggestions have arisen to address this issue, including drawing inspiration from the Mass Effect 3 Citadel DLC, which provided players with a substantial post-game experience. Others propose a less extensive ending, akin to the Fallout: New Vegas-style slide show, to wrap up the story.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a plethora of choices in both the main storyline and numerous side quests. These decisions have significant repercussions on the game’s world, and players are given glimpses into the outcomes of their actions through a series of slides. These slides reveal the fates of those they’ve aided or harmed and how their actions have shaped Baldur’s Gate.

Implementing a post-game party is a considerable undertaking, considering the game’s multiple possible endings, branching storylines, and the extensive voice work required. As such, a more feasible solution could involve a series of text-driven or narrated slide show panels to provide players with the closure they desire. This would enable players to discover whether Astarion and Tav embarked on sadistic adventures once freed from the moral constraints of their party, among other potential outcomes.

However, this approach still leaves bards with limited options for engagement, as they currently have limited opportunities to perform for their companions. Despite this, players can at least enjoy playing the flute as a consolation.
