“Just like we did with Mortal Kombat 11, we’re gonna release a second part with more story.”

Following the success of Mortal Kombat 11, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of its highly anticipated sequel featuring an extended storyline. Brace yourselves for an even bigger surprise that will extend our support for the game well beyond what we did for Mortal Kombat 11.

Leakers have been divulging details about the sequel’s story mode since its launch, suggesting a central focus on the ongoing conflict between Sub-Zero and Scorpion, the two feuding brothers. According to these sources, the narrative will delve into the post-credits scene, tying up loose ends from the first installment.

In the primary narrative, Bi-Han (Sub-Zero) betrays Fire God Liu Kang and the Lin Kuei’s commitment to protecting Earthrealm, leveraging his clan for personal power. His brother, Kuai Liang (Scorpion), departs with Smoke to establish the Shirai Ryu, preserving the original purpose of the Lin Kuei.

The story concludes with the multiversal Titan Havik and his distorted roster of familiar faces plotting for reality-bending domination. Leakers suggest that Havik will play a crucial role in this expansion reminiscent of Aftermath.

The expansion is rumored to kick off at Kuai Liang’s wedding to Harumi at the Wu Shi Academy, but, as expected, chaos ensues. Bi-Han and the Lin Kuei launch a surprise attack, leading to their capture. Meanwhile, Scorpion and the new Shirai Ryu deliberate on the fate of the traitors, only to face an assault by Titan Havik and his Chaos Warriors.

As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Havik has kidnapped Geras to manipulate various timelines and has constructed a colosseum where roster variants engage in deadly combat. In an unexpected turn, Scorpion and the Lin Kuei must set aside their differences and join forces to defeat Havik.

If the leaks hold true, the sequel promises a narrative centered on the Lin Kuei intertwined with Havik’s multiversal campaign. As for the mysterious surprise alluded to by Boon, we eagerly anticipate further revelations in due course.
