God of War Ragnarok Valhalla’s director has tasked fans with completing a challenge that was too tough for even the devs to handle.
The recently unveiled Valhalla DLC for God of War Ragnarok has been released, introducing a new roguelike mode that serves as an epilogue to Kratos’ journey. While we won’t delve into specific story details to avoid spoilers, fans are enthusiastically embracing the added challenge presented by the new mode.
The DLC’s director, Mihir Sheth, has revealed that the endgame challenge within the DLC is exceptionally difficult, to the extent that none of the Santa Monica development team has been able to conquer it. Sheth shared on Twitter that although many players have successfully overcome the challenge on lower difficulties, the newly introduced “Show Me Mastery” difficulty mode has proven to be a formidable obstacle for the developers themselves.
Acknowledging their defeat, Sheth has now extended the challenge to the God of War fanbase, anticipating that someone with the necessary skills will emerge to triumph over the DLC’s toughest challenge on the highest difficulty setting. While Sheth expects to be impressed by the gaming community’s abilities, he is also curious to see if Santa Monica has created a challenge that even their dedicated fanbase may struggle to overcome.
Although Sheth doesn’t explicitly identify the specific challenge causing difficulties, his description implies that players will recognize it when attempting to tackle it. Given the game’s history of challenging boss encounters, such as Gna, The Valkyrie Queen, it raises curiosity about what aspect managed to stump even the developers themselves.
Currently, most players are likely focused on navigating through the primary content of the DLC before attempting the formidable endgame challenge. For those unfamiliar with the DLC, it offers a free roguelike mode where Kratos faces various enemies, including some from his past, with intriguing story elements woven into the chaos. If you enjoyed Ragnarok, the Valhalla DLC is a must-play, featuring surprises that will particularly delight longtime God of War fans.
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla is available for download now, but it’s important to have the base game fully installed before accessing it. Happy hunting!
