Princess Peach Showtime has updated the box art to make Peach look more like she does in the movie, which has split Mario fans down the middle.
Nintendo has quietly made subtle changes to the box art for Princess Peach Showtime, resulting in a more striking resemblance to her appearance in the movies. Notably, Kung Fu Peach now sports a fiercer expression instead of her previous blissful smile when executing combat moves.
The alterations didn’t go unnoticed, with discussions emerging on platforms like Reddit and Twitter, sparking a range of reactions from fans—some in favor, some against, and some simply bewildered.
“It appears they’ve given her a makeover to match her movie counterpart, similar to the ‘American Kirby’ approach. The new face is undeniably amusing, though I personally prefer the original look,” remarked fred7010.
In contrast, there were voices like 95cesar’s who welcomed the change, appreciating the enhanced expressiveness and a departure from the somewhat plastic appearance.

A prevalent theory within the Mario fanbase was that these alterations might be exclusive to the Western market, possibly influenced by the “American Kirby is hardcore” marketing style. However, it was pointed out that even the Japanese box art underwent changes to align better with the movie representation.
The decision to bridge the gap between the cinematic and gaming representations, even if only for box art, stirred strong emotions among gamers.
“She now resembles her movie counterpart,” lamented TrixieLulam002. “I had hoped this wouldn’t impact the games. Please.
