In a rare display of unanimous consensus among Mortal Kombat 1 enthusiasts, it appears that Sub-Zero is widely regarded as the least formidable combatant on the roster, largely due to his notably feeble offensive capabilities.

With Mortal Kombat fans having had the chance to dive into Mortal Kombat 1 for several weeks now, it comes as no surprise that discussions regarding character tiers have already ignited within the community. While the game boasts a robust roster brimming with compelling characters for players to choose as their main, a handful of fighters have emerged as seemingly weaker options, with one in particular receiving a unanimous vote of no confidence—Sub-Zero.

In a thread on the Mortal Kombat subreddit initiated by the user needlessly-redundant, the community was polled to identify the roster’s weakest character, accompanied by an image of Sub-Zero, leaving little room for ambiguity about their choice for the weakest link. Despite the loaded nature of the question, it seems that most Mortal Kombat 1 aficionados were quick to cast their verdict against Bi-Han.

The leading comment in the thread, courtesy of Redditor Old-Incident-120, humorously lamented, “I must be really terrible if my younger brother can defeat me using Sub-Zero,” setting the tone for subsequent top-rated comments.

Barring comments like “Whichever character I’m currently playing,” the prevailing sentiment in the thread is that Bi-Han pales in comparison to the rest of the cast and is in dire need of significant buffs, with one Reddit user going as far as to assert that he occupies “a league of his own at the bottom.”

The core issue with Sub-Zero is succinctly articulated by beyond_cyber, who observes that despite possessing the potential for impressive combos, getup attacks, and an array of ice-based techniques, this potential is rendered almost inconsequential when his “strikes feel like mere tickles.” Those who opt to make Sub-Zero their main character must invest considerably more effort to secure a victory due to the fact that his lengthy combos inflict minimal damage.

It’s worth noting that this is not the first instance in which Sub-Zero has been singled out as the weakest character on the roster. On Twitter, for instance, user RaikouRosario94 shared a 13-second-long combo executed with Bi-Han that inexplicably resulted in less than half of their opponent’s health being depleted. Given the intricacy of the combo, the outcome raised further questions about Sub-Zero’s overall effectiveness.

While a few Reddit comments also mention Rain as a candidate for the weakest character, citing his sluggishness and underwhelming performance, it is apparent that Sub-Zero is currently the undisputed leader in this dubious competition by a landslide.
