Surprisingly, a fan has managed to acquire The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered ahead of schedule and is now sharing their gameplay online.

The release date for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered appears to have been breached, with at least one fan already enjoying the game ahead of its official launch. The player, who is sharing early gameplay on Reddit, claims to have accessed the new game modes in advance.

Despite Naughty Dog and Sony not officially acknowledging the leaks, the fan has posted several videos showcasing their gameplay. It remains unclear how they obtained the game before its scheduled release on January 19, but they assert having made a purchase, suggesting a possible premature sale by an outlet.

Eurogamer has noted that the leak is spreading online, with early footage being shared on the PlayStation subreddit. The user responsible for the leak seems to have been playing the game for a few days. While avoiding story spoilers for The Last of Us Part 2 may be challenging, those looking to experience the remaster without extensive knowledge of its new features are advised to steer clear of the subreddit.

Regarding known additions, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will feature Lost Levels—areas omitted from the original release, accessible outside the main story. Additionally, a roguelike mode will be introduced, and a new skin confirms Ellie’s surname as Williams.

The official launch of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is scheduled for January 19. This release comes nearly four years after the initial launch of The Last of Us Part 2 and over a year since the latest remaster of the series’ first game. While the latter was ported to PC last year, it faced performance and graphical issues. There is currently no release date for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PC, and it will be exclusively available on PlayStation 5 at launch.

The remastered version can be purchased separately, but those with the original game can upgrade for a fee of $10.
