Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been getting banned for recording raunchy scenes on Xbox, but Microsoft says it’s because it breaches content policies.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has made its debut on Xbox, but eager players diving into one of the standout games of 2023 are facing unexpected bans after indulging in the game’s more risqué camp life experiences.

For context, when you capture screenshots on Microsoft’s platform, they are automatically synced to the cloud for access on other devices. However, there are strict rules governing content in your library. Those who have been snapping pictures of the game’s more explicit scenes are finding themselves suspended for violating safety and content policies.

Larian Studios, the game’s developer, quickly became aware of the issue and reached out to Microsoft, describing the bans as “annoying and uncool.” The outcome of these discussions is that players are advised to refrain from uploading their recordings to the cloud, as no alterations will be made to the safety and content policies.

Despite initial assumptions that an automated system was flagging nudity in screenshots, Microsoft clarified that “each clip is reviewed by a moderator and, if found in violation of our safety and content policies, actioned accordingly.”

According to Eurogamer, Microsoft is open to reversing bans “if actions are deemed to have been taken in error,” but cautions players to disable auto-upload to prevent future suspensions.

This implies that Xbox users playing Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t be able to share romance scenes through their cloud captures. If players wish to capture these moments, they must find alternative means to transfer them from their console to other devices.

This isn’t the sole issue encountered by Xbox players. Since the game’s launch, reports have surfaced about save files being wiped, even after updates. This problem stems from a firmware issue on the console itself, necessitating a fix from Xbox. In the meantime, players can safeguard their progress by creating a Larian account and enabling cross-platform saves, providing protection against potential data loss, even for those solely playing on Xbox.
